The Windsor Star reported today that another child has drowned in a pool in Ontario. Windsor Police Services say they responded around 6:30 p.m. to a report of a drowning at a residence in Amherstburg, outside of Windsor. When police arrived they say the child was in critical condition. EMS arrived on scene and transported the child to a local trauma centre. Police reported on Friday that “despite all efforts by emergency services and medical personnel,” the child unfortunately passed away. The start reported that according to the Lifesaving Society, an average of 166 people in Ontario die in preventable water-related incidents every year and drowning is the second leading cause of accidental death for children under five years old.
