Global News reported this morning that a driver was charged yesterday following a fatal crash that happened near Webber Road and Murdoch Street in Welland. Police say that Fire and EMS responded to a serious accident around 7:00 am. yesterday. Crews responded to a Pontiac Grand-Prix which had been flipped over on it’s roof and was on fire. Response crews also tried to rescue a man trapped in the fipped vehicle, but were unable to do so due to the intense flames. The man died at the scene. Officers determined that the Grand Prix was traveling westbound on Webber Road in a group of vehicles prior to it leaving the roadway.
The driver that was charged was of one of the other vehicles in the group the Grand Prix had been traveling amongst was arrested at the scene. The driver’s name is not being released at this time.
