CHCH News in Hamilton reported that a driver of Jeep that was going the wrong way on #Hwy406 when it crashed head on with the tractor trailer. The crash happened around 1 a.m. Wednesday in the southbound lanes of the highway near Beaverdams Rd. The man, a 54 year old from Welland, was pronounced dead on scene. OPP says speed, alcohol and drugs are being looked at as possible contributing factors in the crash. The driver of the transport suffered minor injuries. OPP is continuing to investigate. Anyone who witnessed the accident are asked to contact OPP at 905-356-1311.
