The St.Catharines Standard reported yesterday that a motorcycle accident closed the Fort Erie bound lanes of the QEW for hours on Tuesday causing a traffic to be backed up in the North end for hours of St. Catharines. The Niargara OPP reported that the motorcyclist involved in the motorcycle accident, a 54-year-old man from the Oakville, was airlifted to a trauma center after sustaining injuries. Initial reports were that the biker rear-ended a transport truck. The Fort Erie-bound lanes of the QEW at Martindale Road for hours. That sent vehicles onto Highway 406 and eventually city streets as drivers tried to find their way back onto the QEW ahead of the crash scene.
