CTV news reported that a 36-year-old woman was struck and killed at approximately 4 AM on Friday, while she was riding her bicycle near Stevenson Road and Laval Drive, just north of the 401 in Oshawa. The woman was initially transported with life threatening injuries, but she died on the way to the hospital. Unfortunately, the driver that hit her did not remain at the scene. According to Durham police, several motorists drove around the victim’s body as she lied in the pavement, before someone eventually used their vehicle to block traffic until first responders arrived on scene. Police advise that debris from the vehicle’s headlight was found on scene. Anyone with information about the bicycle accident is asked to call Durham regional police at 1-888-579-1520, extension 5217.
